BUSINESS AND STRATEGY CONSULTING
Strategy built
to
be executed,
not archived.
A strategy document in a drawer is not a strategy. It is a record of a consulting engagement. We build plans from first principles, model the assumptions honestly, and stay involved through implementation — because that is the only way to know whether the strategy actually works..
THE REAL PROBLEM
Most strategy fails at implementation, not at the thinking stage.
We have reviewed enough strategy documents to recognise the pattern: thorough analysis, credible recommendations, and then nothing changes. The document is excellent. The organisation is unchanged.
The failure is almost never the thinking. It is the gap between a well-reasoned recommendation and the people, systems, and accountability structures that have to execute it under real-world pressure — with competing priorities, limited resources, and leadership teams that were never fully aligned in the first place.
YottaVate approaches strategy the way an engineer approaches a systems design problem. Every recommendation is connected to evidence from the analysis. Every assumption is tested against real constraints. And the plan is stress-tested for the failure modes that only appear when implementation actually starts.
What we hear from new clients
- We had a strategy session eighteen months ago. The document is still on the shelf.
- We know the direction. We cannot get leadership aligned on what to prioritise first.
- We submitted a compliant, well-written tender and still did not win. We do not know why.
- We want to expand into Zimbabwe. We are not sure where to start or who to trust.
- Our processes are costing us more than they should, but we cannot quantify exactly where.
The ASPIRE Framework
Six phases that take an organisation from a complex strategic challenge through to a strategy that is owned, understood, and actually being executed. Not every engagement uses all six; we scope to what you need.
A
Analyse
1 to 4 weeks
Fact-based understanding of the current situation — financial performance, market dynamics, competitive positioning, stakeholder landscape, and the root causes behind the strategic challenge. We do not recommend until we understand. Analysis that does not hold up under scrutiny produces confident-sounding conclusions that collapse when tested.

Strategise
2 to 4 weeks
Generate, evaluate, and stress-test strategic options. We model the financial and operational implications of each path — not to validate a predetermined conclusion, but to give the client a genuine basis for choosing between real alternatives. The strategy that emerges is one the client has actually chosen, not been sold.

Plan
2 to 4 weeks
Translate the chosen strategy into a detailed, executable implementation plan. Not a high-level document with vague milestones — a plan that specifies exactly what will happen, who will do it, what it will cost, and how success will be measured. A strategy without a plan is a wish.

Implement
Varies by scope
Where plans meet reality. YottaVate stays actively engaged during implementation — not monitoring from the outside, but working alongside the client team to solve the problems that always surface. We track progress weekly, manage the change workstream, and escalate decisions to the governance structure as required.

R
Review
2 to 4 Weeks
Measure what actually changed against the targets set at the outset. This is the accountability mechanism that separates YottaVate from consultants who hand over a document and disappear. If outcomes fall short of targets, we diagnose why and recommend corrective action. The engagement is not done until we have measured it.

2 to 6 Weeks
Ensure the strategic changes become permanent features of the organisation rather than temporary improvements that erode once YottaVate leaves. Governance structures, documented processes, trained teams, and a measurement framework that keeps the strategy alive long after the engagement closes.

1
Strategic Planning and Execution
3 to 5-year strategic plans with clear objectives, KPIs, strategic initiatives, resource requirements, and governance structures. Built to be executed — with the milestones and accountability that make strategy real rather than aspirational.
2
Business Process Optimisation
Engineering-grade analysis of current-state processes — identifying where value is lost, where costs accumulate, and where redesign will produce measurable improvement in throughput, cost, and quality. Average 20% operational efficiency improvement across our SME engagements.
3
Organisational Design
Restructuring of teams, functions, and reporting lines to support strategic objectives and enable scalable growth. We approach organisational design the way an engineer approaches systems design — ensuring every part of the structure serves the overall function and can handle the load it will face.
4
Financial Modelling and Business Cases
Rigorous financial analysis for investment decisions, board presentations, funding applications, and major capital projects. Models decision-makers can trust — because the assumptions are explicit, sensitivities are modelled, and risks are quantified before any commitment is made.
5
Market Entry Strategy
Research-driven market analysis and entry planning for businesses expanding into new geographies. Our particular depth is South African firms entering Zimbabwe, and Zimbabwean businesses expanding into South Africa — we understand both markets from the inside.
6
Government Tender Strategy and Support
End-to-end support for clients pursuing government contracts — from CSD and PRAZ registration through eligibility assessment, proposal writing, pricing strategy, and submission. Deep knowledge of both SA National Treasury SCM requirements and Zimbabwe PRAZ procurement frameworks.
7
Performance Management Framework Design
KPI frameworks, balanced scorecards, and management reporting systems that give leadership genuine visibility of what is actually happening — and give teams clear accountability for the results they are responsible for.
8
Business Turnaround Advisory
Structured advisory for businesses under financial or operational stress. We diagnose root causes, develop a prioritised recovery plan, and support implementation — bringing the same engineering discipline to recovery that we bring to transformation.
